Big Spring Trip 2018; USS Yorktown

Spend an adventurous weekend full of fun, friends and fellowship May 18-20, 2018 with Scouts of all ages!

The aircraft carrier USS Yorktown was commissioned in 1943 and served with distinction in both World War II and Vietnam.  She also participated in the NASA Apollo missions and was a filming location for the classic movies “Tora! Tora! Tora!” And “The Philadelphia Experiment.”

Located at Patriot’s Point in South Carolina, the USS Yorktown and several other decommissioned ships are now interactive museums with many exciting activities... including camping aboard in the crew quarters!

No refunds or rain checks.

Registration Deadline: April 10th, 2018   Registration has ended.

All current Pack 416 scouts and their families are welcome.  Webelos II who recently crossed over are also welcome.  Siblings must be at least 6 years old to attend.   As males and females will have separate sleeping quarters, guardians are encouraged to consider how that may impact family/sibling attendance.

Family members who want to arrange their own on-shore accommodations will be able to join their family members on board once the ship opens to the public on Saturday. Day pass prices for those not staying aboard are $22 for adults and $14 for children 6-11.

Where will I sleep?
You will be sleeping where the sailors slept, in bunks on board the USS Yorktown. Don’t forget your pillow and sleeping bag!

Male participants will sleep in the enlisted crew berthing quarters on bunks that sleep 3 high.  Females will sleep in the officers’ quarters. The areas are climate controlled, and it is possible that our group may have other participants sleeping in our areas.

Where will I eat?
Just like the sailors, you will be eating in the crew mess hall below deck on board the ship.
